What won the race: Mike Pegher Jr. of Cranberry Township, Pa., drove under leader Andrew Wylie as they exited turn four on lap seven. After taking the lead with an inside pass, Pegher led the rest of the 30-lapper, holding off Logan Roberson to claim his second RUSH series victory in nine days. Finishing .733 of a second behind the winner, Roberson settled for a close second, while Jason Genco was third. Pegher earned $2,000 for his victory.
Quotable: "I wasn't sure where (Robertson) was at," said Pegher. “I kept looking at the scoreboard and saw he got to second. I wasn't sure how big of a lead I had until that caution. I felt I was better through the middle, but after that caution I kept hearing him down there on the bottom. My crew guy kept signaling me to go to the bottom, but my car didn't feel near as good down there. Hats off to those guys for finishing second; that's a good job.”
Key notes: Mike Pegher Jr., earned $7,110 plus contingencies for car owner Brian Swank during his red-hot nine-day stretch that included two wins and a runner-up finish. … Jason Genco recorded his third straight podium finish. ... It was Pegher’s eight career RUSH Sweeney tour victory. … Roberson was in attack mode on lap 24 but a caution thwarted a pass attempt for the lead. Nearly $50,000 in cash and contingencies were distributed. … Roberson’s runner-up finish capped a four-race weekend that included four top-five finishes: fifth at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., on Thursday; third at Path Valley Speedway in central Pennsylvania on Friday; a victory at Winchester (Va.) Speedway on Saturday; and second at Tri-City. … Mike Franklin of Winchester, Va., led flag-to-flag to win the eight-lap non-qualifiers race. … The series will be on hiatus until the Sept. 29-30 Fall Classic at McKean County Raceway in East Smethport. ... There have been seven different winners in 12 events this season. ... Pegher Jr., Wonderling, Bryce Davis, John Waters and Russ King have two series wins apiece.
