What won the race: Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C., piloted the Billy Hicks-owned No. 79 machine to a victory in the Ultimate Southeast-sanctioned Ronnie Brookshire Memorial at Laurens County Speedway. Bailes crossed the finish line 2.414 seconds ahead of runner-up Dennis Franklin. Bailes led all 40 laps of the event.
Quotable: "I'm just blessed to be able to drive good cars, whether it's Billy's or Ronnie McCarter's or Barry (Wright's) or whoever it is," said Bailes. "I'm just blessed to have good opportunities."
Key notes: Bailes won in the Billy Hicks machine after a brief stint in the Barry Wright Race Cars house car. ... Anthony Sanders broke a rear end in qualifying and started the feature in a Zack Mitchell backup car. ... The first caution was caused by an incident involving Dino Long and Doug Sanders that blocked the speedway. ... The final caution came out with 17 laps to go as Jason Welshan experienced mechanical issues while running sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Bailes drives a Longhorn Chassis with a Kenny Lamb Race Engine and sponsorship from H&H Auto Sales, Bailes Construction, AKW Electrical Contractors and FK Rod Ends.
