Chris Simpson was $10,000 richer in victory lane at Farley.
What won the race: Driving track co-owner Jason Rauen's car, Chris Simpson of Oxford, Iowa, regained the lead from 15th-starting Ryan Dolan on the 73rd lap and led the rest of the 100-lap Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley Speedway. Simpson's $10,000 victory is the richest of the season on the Deery Brothers Summer Series.
Key notes: Simpson, whose best previous Yankee Dirt Track Classic finish was second in 2013, recorded his seventh overall win of the season. ... Ryan Dolan led laps 49-72 after taking the point from Simpson; he dropped out of fourth in the final laps and ended up 10th. ... Polesitter Joel Callahan (a track co-owner along with Rauen) led most of the first 27 laps before falling behind Simpson; he slipped back to fourth and came back to take second from Justin Kay on the final lap. ... Fourteen drivers finished on the lead lap. ... The late-season event was started in 1978 by Al Frieden at Hawkeye Downs. ... Jeff Aikey, a three-time Yankee Late Model winner, won the modified portion of the event for the first time.

FARLEY, Iowa — Results from the $10,000-to-win Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley Speedway, the richest race on the Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule (results unofficial):

Saturday's main event

Driving track co-owner Jason Rauen's car, Chris Simpson of Oxford, Iowa, regained the lead from Ryan Dolan on the 73rd lap and led the rest of the 100-lap Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley Speedway. Simpson's $10,000 victory is the richest of the season on the Deery Brothers Summer Series.

Joel Callahan of Dubuque, Iowa, another track co-owner along with Rauen, led most of the first quarter of the race and regained the second spot from Justin Kay on the final lap. Kay, of Wheatland, Iowa, improved nine positions to finish third while Tyler Bruening of Decroah, Iowa, and Chad Holladay of Muscatine, Iowa, rounded out the top five.

Dolan, of Lisbon, Iowa, dropped out of the top five in the waning laps and ended up 10th.

With the victory, Simpson became the tour's 100th winner in its 477th race.
