What won the race: Points leader Nick Anvelink of Navarino, Wis., won a showup-points event in the first DiscountShopTowels.com Dirt Kings Tour visit at TNT Speedway, which reopened last month. Drivers agreed to run a 15-lap exhibition after determining the track was too rough for official competition.
Key notes: Driver Mitch McGrath lost consciousness after a rollover accident; he was taken to the hospital and a CT scan revealed no head or neck injuries, according to long-time girlfriend Paige Radtke's Facebook page. … It was after McGrath's accident that drivers huddled with officials and decided on a non-points, 15-lap exhibition with all drivers receiving the same pay ($540) and equal showup points. ... Under new management after sitting dormant for awhile, TNT Speedway welcomed the first-year Dirt Kings. … The track reopened in late August after renovating facility structures and adding new clay to the third-mile oval.
Winner's sponsors: Anvelink's No. 15 is sponsored by Seubert Calf Ranches, Unique Health Care Products, Dan Nolan Livestock, Fastenal, Gehm's Club Bar & Grill, CureJM.org and Frank Wallace Flooring.
Points chase: Nick Anvelink (243 points) leads Justin Hirt (211), Ron Berna (195), Brett Swedberg (195) and Jared Siefert (193).
