What won the race: Sixth-starting Brian Smith of Barbourville, Ky., notched his first Super Late Model victory in a wild 44-lapper Sunday at high-banked Tazewell Speedway. The fifth of five leaders, Smith earned $4,400 in the ninth annual Buddy Rogers Memorial after inheriting the lead on lap 38 upon David Payne's retirement.
Quotable: "We knew the track was rough; we knew we had to hold on. A lot of people was breaking," Smith said. "I stayed at the bottom. It was rough to drive, but I kind of saved my car."
