What won the race: Driving to the outside of Paul Parker on a lap-seven restart, Frank Heckenast Jr. of Frankfort, Ill., made a pass for the lead and paced the remaining 23 circuits to win Wednesday’s unsanctioned UMP DIRTcar Dirt 30 special at Dirt Oval Route 66 in Joliet, Ill. Heckenast collected $5,000 for winning ahead of Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill., and Brent Larson of Lake Elmo, Minn.

Quotable: "At the beginning there, (the track) wasn't as good in the beginning and they kept working it and working it and it came around," said Heckenast Jr. "Dennis (Erb Jr.) was really good there in the beginning. They watered the top and that's where he needed to be and he definitely showed us that. With all them restarts though, who knows what would've happened."

Key notes: A caution on the final lap set up a one-lap shootout for the win. Heckenast barely nipped Unzicker and Larson at the line. ... Dennis Erb Jr., led the first seven laps of the event before jumping the cushion in turn one and slowing against the outside wall. Erb retired and finished 21st. ... Paul Parker, who grabbed second on the opening lap, inherited the lead, but wasn't credited with a lap led as Heckenast passed him in turn four on the restart. ... Heckenast paced the final 23 laps and crossed the finish line 0.157 seconds ahead of a closing Ryan Unzicker. ... Unzicker slid past Parker for second just past the halfway mark. Larson followed Unzicker by Parker on the same lap to grab third. ... Larson passed Unzicker for second with eight laps remaining, but a caution for Rich Bell with four laps left bunched the field, allowing Unzicker to reclaim second on the restart. ... Billy Drake, one of three heat winners, slipped to sixth. ... Heckenast dedicated the win to family friend Bill Clemmons, who recently passed away. ...
