Shown in Friday's action, Max Blair earned $6,100 in Saturday's main.
What won the race: Taking the lead from Jared Miley on lap 33, Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., pocketed $6,011 Saturday in Eriez Speedway's September Sweep final for Super Late Models, his third Zimmer's United Late Model Series victory of the season. Blair had a comfortable lead before a late caution and took the checkers ahead of the polesitting Miley and Alex Ferree.
Key notes: Blair earned an additional $1,100 bonus as the highest-running local driver on the 11th lap, a tribute to late track owner Bob Rohrer. The weekend's purses also had $11 added to the total as a nod to Rohrer, who died this summer after a battle with cancer. ... Russ King was the other big winner of the September Sweep weekend with a $4,011 ULMS victory in Friday's Dick Litz Memorial and a $3,011 Crate Late Model victory Saturday. ... In his final start at Eriez, Rich Gardner piloted the Dutch Davies No. 40 because his own car had mechanical problems in prelims; an anonymous donor paid the extra $350 for Gardner to start the feature, concluding a 41-year racing career. ... The track drew its biggest crowd of the season.
Winner's sponsors: Blair’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Specialty Products, R&J Poultry Electrical Contractor, Murphy’s Logging, Moody & Son Welding, Hicktown Farms, D.L. Anderson Builder and Remodeler and C and J Dairy.
Points chase: Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, Pa., entered the ULMS weekend with 334 points to lead Greg Oakes (299) and Max Blair (230).
