Donald McIntosh celebrates his Southern Nationals Bonus Series win at Blue Ridge.
What won the race: Surviving a handful of cautions after taking the lead from polesitter Ray Cook on lap six, third-starting Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., outran outside polesitter Kurt English of Murphy, N.C., to claim his fourth career Southern Nationals Bonus Series victory. The win was worth $4,000.
Quotable: “I’ve never been here, but this is a pretty racey track,” said McIntosh. “Everybody said the bottom’s never gonna clean up, but I went down there from the start and it was just working really good. We kept having cautions and kept having cautions, and I’m like, man are we every gonna get this race finished. Once we went single file, I was glad to get some laps in there.”
Key notes: McIntosh won his seventh race of the season and second on the Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series tour. ... McIntosh thanked the Blount Motorsports team that he'll be departing upon season's end. "Man they deserve this. It just proves we're still working hard," said McIntosh. ... Appearing to break something in his car's front end, Shawn Chastain dropped out while running second on lap 26. Chastain collected Joey Standridge, Seth Wimper, Craig Greer and Tim Rucker in the process. ... It was the tour’s first-ever visit to Blue Ridge Motorsports Park.
