Nate Jantz heads toward his first career Sooner Late Model Series victory.
What won the race: Reclaiming the lead from Dillon Rupe on lap 18 as they raced down the backstretch, third-starting Nate Jantz of McKinney, Texas, led the remaining distance en route to his first career Sooner Late Model Series victory. Eddie Tidwell grabbed the runner-up spot on the final lap, while Steven Hawkins settled for third. Jantz earned $750 for the victory.
Quotable: “I started third and got the lead right away and I was up on the cushion and it was kinda treacherous,” said Jantz. “I backed off of it and got into a grove and two cars behind me wound up passing me back. I had to get up on the wheel to get back by them.”
Key notes: Jantz led the first 10 laps before Rupe took the lead following restart. … Rupe led laps 11-17. … Rupe ran second until slipping up the track on lap 21, allowing Hawkins to sneak by. … Rule slid back to fourth. … Bo Day of Greenville, Texas, leads the tour with three victories. … Series points leader Jason Redman finished 10th. … The series was scheduled to wrap up its season Saturday at Enid (Okla.) Speedway, but the race was rained out and reset for Oct. 28.
Winner's sponsors: Nantz drives a Black Diamond Race Car powered by a Jimmy Allard Racing Engine with sponsorship from WRP Racing Products, K & J Properties, Jimmy Allard Racing Engines and Karl Gollnast.
Points chase: Jason Redman entered the weekend as the series points leader.
