What won the race: Taking the lead from Jason Hiett with five laps remaining, Joe Armistead Jr. of Sharpsburg, Ga., held off red-hot Riley Hickman to score his first career SAS victory. Hiett had a big lead until contact with a lapped car caused nosepiece damaged that caused handling problems.
Key notes: Armistead is the 162nd series winner in the 649-race history of the series. ... Eight drivers completed all 40 laps. ... The feature took just under 25 minutes to complete; the lineup was set directly from time trials. ... Cale Simons was an early retiree when fire developed underneath his car early in the race. ... Tom Maddox slowed on the sixth lap entering turn one, collecting Lavon Sparks. ... Montana Dudley won the night's NeSmith Chevrolet-sanctioned Crate Late Model feature.
On the move: Dylan Ames advanced from 13th to finish seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Armistead pilots a Rocket Chassis powered by a Ben Watkins Racing Engine with sponsorship from Modern Images, White's Plumbing, Jodeco Auto Sales and Transmission Parts Unlimited.
