What won the race: Nevin Gainey of Fort White, Fla., captured the season opener on the Florida Late Model Challenge Series at Volusia Speedway Park.
Key notes: Gainey notched his first series victory. ... David Whitener crossed the line second but was dropped to last in the rundown because he weighed in 15 pounds light after the race. ... Whitener was also placed on probation for rough driving. ... Mikey Kopka and Chuck Jackson were placed on probation by the series for climbing from their cars during a caution period. ...
