What won the race: Regaining the lead from polesitter Spencer Hughes on lap 33, Chad Thrash of Meridian, Miss., paced the final eight laps of Saturday night's Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series thriller at Magnolia Motor Speedway. The reigning tour champ earned $2,000 for his ninth career tour victory.
Key notes: Runner-up Spencer Hughes led the first 16 laps before Thrash went ahead on lap 17. ... Hughes inched back in front on lap 18, but Thrash took command on lap 19 as Hughes slipped to third. ... Hughes came alive again to lead laps 31-32 before Thrash took over for good on lap 33. ... Thrash got his first series victory at Magnolia. His previous series win came nearly one year ago in Greenville, Miss. ... MSCCS drivers return to Magnolia on Aug. 25.
