What won the race: Winning his fourth race in five series starts this season, John Cornell of Phoenix, Ariz., caught and passed early leader Brad Williams for a Southwest Dirt Racing Association victory at Central Arizona Speedway. He earned $700.
Key notes: Cornell finished 1.643 seconds ahead of Williams, who finished second for the third straight series race. … Lacy earned the pole following a six-car redraw. … Donald Curtis and Craig Parker didn’t make the heat race call due to engine-related issues. Parker was ready for the feature, where he started 13th and finished third. … Cornell’s lone series race without a victory this season was a runner-up finish at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. … Only three cars finished on the lead lap. … Cornell has now won three straight and seven of the last 11 SWDRA events going back to last season.
