Mike Maresca earned $2,000 for his first Super Late Model victory.
What won the race: Rallying from the tail and inheriting the lead when race dominator Max Blair had a lap-18 flat tire, Mike Maresca of Potsdam, N.Y., captured his first Super Late Model victory Sunday in Zimmer's United Late Model Series action at Tri-City Raceway Park. Maresca started seventh but went to the rear after he spun while running fourth on the second lap, forcing him to pit to change a flat tire.
Key notes: Maresca took the checkers 0.991 seconds ahead of Jared Miley in the 25-lapper. ... Max Blair was dominating on lap 18 when a flat tire handed the lead to Maresca, who rallied after pitting to change a tire on the second lap. ... Boom Briggs retired running second on lap 14. ... Greg Oakes led early, Mike Pegher took the lead on lap three and then broke his car's rear end a lap later; Oakes was back out front until Blair took the lead on lap six. ... Fifth-running Dave Hess Jr. retired on lap four. ... Seven drivers finished on the lead lap; nine were running at the finish. ... The feature ended about 8:50 p.m. ... Weather has plagued the ULMS tour this season with Tri-City finally getting the oft-postponed event in.
On the move: Jared Miley of South Park, Pa., started eighth and finished second; Doug Eck of Corry, Pa., started 10th and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Maresca's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by St. Lawrence Radiology, Twin Leaf Fresh Express, Traditional Lacrosse and RKR Compound.
