What won the race: Leading all 40 laps, polesitter Travis Pennington of Stapleton, Ga., won Friday’s National Late Model Super Car Series race at Flomaton Speedway. Pennington finished .388 of a second ahead of Mark Whitener in collecting $2,000 for the win.
Quotable: “(Mark) Whitener usually don’t nothing so I knew that last restart we was gonna have to go wide open,” said Pennington. “I knew he’d be right there, but we got the job done. We’ve been struggling with this car. Just trying to get it to run and trying to get it to run. I think we’ve took it apart about three times. My dad, he works on this thing all week. He really don’t even have a job, he just works on this thing, so that helps.”
Key notes: Eleven cars completed the race, all on the lead leap. ...
