What won the race: Pulling away after a caution with seven laps remaining, polesitter Brian Rickman of Columbus, Miss., completed a flag-to-flag victory worth $2,000 in Comp Cams Super Dirt Series action at Greenville Speedway. Rickman crossed the finish line 0.855 seconds ahead of runner-up Ashley Newman in the 35-lap main event.
Quotable: “I hated to see that late-race caution because I’ve run second here a bunch, but tonight luckily that wasn’t the case,” said Rickman. “I always love coming to Greenville, and this is a nice way to backup our Gumbo Nationals win here last year.”
Key notes: Working the low side, Rickman drove to a 4.5-second advantage by the time the race’s only caution waved on lap 28. ... The victory was Rickman's first Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory of the season, and his second career series victory. ... Series action continues May 12 at Mangolia Motor Speedway.
On the move: Ashley Newman of Ripley, Tenn., improved five spots to finish second.
Winner's sponsors: Rickman's Rocket Chassis has a Jay Dickens Racing Engine and is sponsored by Advanced Logistics, 1250 Package Store, Rickman Brothers Trucking and McKleroy Motorports.
Points chase: Before Greenville, Jack Sullivan (901) of Greenbrier, Ark., leads Robert Baker (891), Hunter Rasdon (841), B.J. Robinson (822) and Robby Moore (775).
