Michael Page earned $5,053 for Saturday's victory at Dixie Speedway.
What won the race: Second-starting Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., grabbed the lead from polesitter Will Roland on the opening circuit and paced all 53 laps to win the Southeastern Classic at Dixie Speedway. Page earned $5,053 for his first career Schaeffer's Southern Nationals Bonus Series victory. Ronnie Johnson finished second after starting sixth.
Quotable: “I don’t (sleep) much. I lay in the bed and think about everything I can do and what I need to do (to go faster),” said Page. “I’m just grateful to have good stuff and I’m just trying to be smart with everything I do and I’m just trying different things all the time.”
Key notes: Eight cautions slowed the race, which took nearly 45 minutes to complete. … The final caution set up a three-lap shootout. … Page finished 1.959 seconds ahead of Johnson. … Ten drivers completed all 53 circuits. … Jason Croft and T.J. Reaid, who both started inside the top five, were eliminated during a crash on the first lap. … Series points leader David Payne of Murphy, N.C., finished 17th. … Page won a $4,000 Ultimate Southeast Series main event at Dixie on April 21. ... Fourteen-year-old Jake Rainey of Powder Springs, Ga., won the Crate Late Model feature. It was his first victory.
On the move: Luther Jenkins improved eight spots after starting 18th.
Winner's sponsors: Page’s Stinger Race Car is powered by an Andy Durham Racing Engine and sponsored by Baird Transport, Elite Concrete, Baird Towing and T&T Trucking.
