Michael Page (left) tells SAS announcer Dewayne Keith about his victory.
What won the race: Continuing a torrid hot streak that began with his January Ice Bowl victory, Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., picked up his first career Southern All Stars win and seventh special event victory of the season, topping polesitter Shane Clanton on Saturday at Senoia Raceway. In winning with the third different regional tour this season, Page earned $4,000.
Quotable: "To race with Shane, you can't give him anything," winner Michael Page said. "This racetrack's so tricky in knowing where to go. I don't know what they're doing behind me, so it's kind of nerve-wracking."
Key notes: Clanton, of Zebulon, Ga., led the opening lap before Page used a slider to take control. … Austin Horton lost third place when he spun after making contact with Brad Skinner's slower car. … Horton was caught up in another wreck at the halfway mark when Shane Fulcher’s car went airborne, collecting Skinner and three others. … Ronnie Johnson had a top-five run end when he pitted with a flat with 10 laps remaining. … Series leader Jay Scott finished eighth in his Senoia debut. … Page has seven special event wins this season, winning at least one a month with the exception of February, ranging from $3,000 to $6,000 at five tracks in two states (Alabama and Georgia). … He won Saturday’s Limited Late Model feature also.
On the move: Kenny Collins improved eight spots from 20th to 12th.
Winner's sponsors: Page’s Stinger Race Car is powered by an Andy Durham Racing Engine and sponsored by Baird Transport, Elite Concrete, Baird Towing and T&T Trucking.
Points chase: After Senoia, Jay Scott (398) of Fayetteville, Tenn., leads Mark Dodson (352) and Ray McElhiney (330).
