G.W. Egbert IV won his first Southern Texas Late Model Series race.
What won the race: Picking up his first career Southern Texas Late Model Series victory, second-starting G.W. Egbert IV of Belton, Texas, outran “Little” Robbie Starnes on Friday for an $800 triumph at West Texas Speedway.
Key notes: Egbert, the tour’s two-time and reigning champion, became the 20th different winner in series history. … Starnes’s runner-up finish backed up his first career series victory May 5 at I-37 Speedway in Pleasanton, Texas. ... The Southern Texas Late Model Series, now in its seventh season, made it second-ever stop at West Texas Speedway. David Hennan won last year’s visit.
