What won the race: Taking the lead when Robbie Stuart departed near halfway, third-starting Austin Theiss of Hockley, Texas, led the rest of the way Saturday for his first victory on the first-year Louisiana Late Model Series. Theiss picked up $1,500.
Quotable: “Words can’t begin to describe how much our team needed this win,” Theiss said. “It seems like we’ve had two or three races won in the past month or so only to have bad luck strike before the end of the race. It all starts to weigh on your confidence, but tonight we put it all together.”
Key notes: Theiss became the first non-Louisiana driver to grab a victory on the first-year series. ... The 30-lapper ran without a yellow flag. ... The tour recently added new dates at Sammy G. Nole Motorsports Park in Glenmora, La. (formerly Thunder Valley Speedway). ... The races are set for June 23, Aug. 11 and Sept. 15.
On the move: Runner-up Ronny Adams of Diana, Texas, started eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Theiss's Rocket Chassis is powered by a Vic Hill Racing Engine and sponsored by Sayre Plumbing Contractors, Hass Horizontal, Nolls Automotive, Integra Racing Shocks and Antigravity Batteries
