Steve Drake gets rolling before his $3,000 victory at Santa Maria.
What won the race: Making his way to the front midway through the 30-lap weekend finale of Santa Maria Raceway’s annual Nationals, Steve Drake of San Luis Obispo, Calif., led the final dozen laps to claim a $3,000 victory. Runner-up Jason Papich finished 1.512 seconds behind with Cody Laney rounding out the podium.
Key notes: Six of the 12 starters completed all 30 laps. ... The race took 25 minutes, 48 seconds to complete and was slowed by four cautions, including a lengthy yellow on lap 15. ...
