Max Blair and his supporters celebrates his fifth ULMS win of the season.
What won the race: Making a late-race move to grab the lead from polesitter Tyler Carpenter, Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., led the final two laps to win Saturday’s Zimmer's United Late Model Series feature at Tyler County Speedway. Blair finished 0.623 seconds ahead of Carpenter for his fifth ULMS win in 10 starts, earning $2,000.
Key notes: Carpenter led the first 23 laps from the pole. … Blair has five victories in the last seven ULMS events. … He has 14 career ULMS wins, two shy if his father Rob’s 16, the tour’s high-water mark. … Saturday’s ULMS feature was on the undercard of a $15,000-to-win feature for modifieds, which wrapped up Tyler County’s fourth annual Mega 100 weekend. Jeff Mathews picked up the $15,000 win for mods before finishing third in the Late Model feature. … Mike Benedum was Friday’s winner, picking up $7,000 for his first ULMS victory. … Blair, Carpenter, Mathews and Doll all ran close together at the finish, nearly going four-wide for the lead coming to the white flag. … Twelve of the 19 starters completed all 25 laps. … The race was slowed by two cautions.
