Rusty Schlenk captured the rain-shorted Kerbystrong 100.
What won the race: In a race cut to 21 laps by rain, Rusty Schlenk of McClure, Ohio, picked up a $2,000 victory in the Kerbystrong 100 at Macon Speedway on the Midwest Big 10 Series. Schlenk overtook Jose Parga early and was out front when Mother Nature forced the end of the event scheduled for 50 laps.
Key notes: Schlenk took the checkers over Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill. for his second career Big 10 victory. ... His first came July 23, 2017, at Jacksonville (Ill.) Raceway. ... Jackson had been scheduled to host the series Friday, but that race was cancelled. ... A dozen drivers completed 21 laps at Macon. ... It wasn't immediately clear the race was complete at Macon when the deluge hit the track, but officials decided 21 laps was enough to make it official (usually it requires the halfway mark). ... Colby Eller was the race's only retiree. ... Instead of a victory lane ceremony, Schlenk's car was unceremoniously covered with a gray tarp in the pits to protect it from the elements. ... Schlenk bounced from a July 5 disappointment in DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Macon; in that series event, Schlenk parked on the first lap after shearing the bolts off the transmission coupler in his car's drivetrain.
Winner's sponsors: Schlenk’s C.J. Rayburn Race Car is powered by an ECR Engine and sponsored by Buckeye Concrete Coatings, Dominator Race Products, Allstar Performance and Velocita.
Points chase: Heading to Macon, Greg Kimmons of Pleasant Plains, Ill., led the series with 204 points over Cody Maguire (202) and Jose Parga (200).
Car count: 17
Fast qualifier: Rusty Schlenk
Time: 10.538 seconds
