Boom Briggs won Friday's ULMS main event at Freedom.
What won the race: Catching race leader Greg Oakes in traffic, seventh-starting Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., drove by on the low side on lap nine and went on to win his first ULMS victory of the season Friday at Freedom Motorsports Park. Briggs held off a couple of late challenges from Oakes, who settled for second ahead of Max Blair. Briggs, a two-time series champion, earned $2,500.
Quotable: “I knew the bottom was good in qualifying," said Briggs. "I told Chub (Frank) about it in the heat race, but his car was a little tighter than mine."
Key notes: The win ties Briggs for third on the United Late Model Series all-time win list with 10 victories. ... His last victory was April 28, 2017, at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Knox Dale, Pa. … This was the third of four stops at Freedom Motorsports Park for the Zimmer's United Late Model Series this season. ... The series returns to FMP on Sept. 15.
On the move: Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., started eighth and finished third.
