What won the race: Denying series champion Chad Thrash his fourth series win of the season, Prattsville, Ark., invader Timothy Culp picked up a MSCCS victory Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway. The high-running Culp turned back Thrash’s low-side challenge on the final lap and beat him to the finish by half a second to claim a $2,500 payday.
Key notes: Timothy Culp earned his first MSCCS win of the season and fourth of his career. … All three of Culp’s previous series victories came at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway, the most recent on May 29, 2016. … Seventeen of the 22 starters finished the race, with 15 completing all 40 laps. … Series points leader Neil Baggett of Columbus finished 13th after starting 11th. … Dropping in on a pair of home-state races over the weekend, World of Outlaws regular David Breazeale of Four Corners, Miss., finished third after winning Friday’s stop at Hattiesburg Speedway. … Robert Moore, Lance Johnson, Brent Barrett and David Franklin failed to make the main event. … Magnolia Motor Speedway hosted the MSCCS for the 15th time in series history and the third and final time this season. … Evan Ellis won the Crate Late Model feature.
On the move: Hunter Rasdon of Jonesboro, Ark., started 15th and finished seventh.
