What won the race: Turning back a charge from David Payne in lapped traffic, Daniel Wilson of Warren, N.C., picked up a flag-to-flag victory in Saturday’s Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models main event at Blue Ridge Motorsports Park. Wilson topped Payne, who won Friday at Tri-County Racetrack, for an $1,800 victory. Levi Hicks finished third.
Quotable: “It was a pretty intense night," said Wilson. "Tonight I qualified on the front row again and everything worked out in my favor tonight. (David Payne) got into turn three a little hot and shoved the right front and we was there … turned underneath him and was just able to make it work.”
Key notes: Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., has won eight of the tour’s 19 races this season, including seven of the last 12. … David Payne of Murphy, N.C., won Friday’s weekend opener at Tri-County Racetrack. … A handful of late-season schedule additions have pushed the slate on the first-year tour to 29 events. … The series recently added an Oct. 6 event at East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, N.C.
On the move: Twelve-year-old Bryson Harper started 13th and finished ninth.
