Michael Page picked up a $2,000 Chevy Series win at Dixie.
What won the race: Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., overtook polesitter Ronnie Johnson amid traffic on lap 15 Saturday at Dixie Speedway and pulled away to win his second straight Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series victory. Page, who won the previous night at Boyd's Speedway, earned $2,000.
Quotable: “Ronnie Johnson has been a hero of mine since I was a little boy, and when we came up on the lapped car, he made the move to the top, and I went to the inside to take the lead,” winner Michael Page said. “We had a little harder tire on the right front than Ronnie did, and the car kept getting faster when the tire came in.”
Key notes: Page won by 1.963 seconds. … He grabbed the lead from Johnson as the duo spit the lapped car of Ahnna Parkhurst. Johnson went high and Page went low. … Johnson picked up his sixth straight top-five finish in Chevy series competition. … After grabbing the lead at the start, Johnson reached lapped traffic by lap nine and enjoyed a 10-car length advantage over Page. … Ten of the 19 starters completed all 30 circuits. … The only caution came on lap 20 when Mark Page slowed to a stop with a small fire under the hood of his car. … Dalton Polston, T.J. Brittain, Riley Hickman and the ageless Buster Goss scratched from the feature.
On the move: Joseph Brown of Columbus, Ga., started 20th and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Page’s Stinger Race Car is powered by an Andy Durham Racing Engine and sponsored by Baird Transport, Elite Concrete, Baird Towing and T&T Trucking.
Points chase: Ronnie Johnson (388) of Chattanooga, Tenn., leads Jake Knowles (370), Cruz Skinner (350), Landon Bagby (342), and Joseph Brown (340).
