Jason Covert picked up a $5,000 Ultimate Northeast check.
What won the race: Second-starting Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., outran fifth-starting Gregg Satterlee to win Saturday's Ultimate Northeast Series main event at Hagerstown Speedway. Covert, who took the lead on the ninth lap, earned $5,000 in the Hub City 100 for his first series victory.
Quotable: “Well, there was 10 to 15 cars here that could’ve won tonight with no issue," winner Jason Covert said. "Competition is tougher now than it has ever been, I’m just tickled to win a race.”
Key notes: Covert was the eighth winner in 10 series races. … Polesitter Kyle Lee spun out of the lead on the eighth lap entering lapped traffic. ... Fifteen drivers completed all 40 laps. ... Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pa., lowered the track qualifying record with a 17.089-second lap; seventeen drivers were faster than Kenny Moreland's previous record (17.866 seconds) set in August. ... The Ultimate Northeast Series wrapped up its inaugural season. ... Justin Weaver won the Mason-Dixon Shootout Series event on the undercard, earning $2,000 in wrapping up the series title. ... The event drew 146 race cars overall.
