Cruz Skinner picked up his second series win.
What won the race: Cruz Skinner of Oxford, Ala., led all 50 laps to capture Saturday’s Durrence Lane Chevrolet Series race at Talladega Short Track. Skinner, 17, earned $2,500 for his second career triumph on the tour for Crate Late Models.
Quotable: “It’s great to finally get a touring series win here in front of my friends and family,” winner Cruz Skinner said. “We’ve been working really hard to get here, as this is my fifth year of racing late models, and it feels to get it done and win at home. The race was really crazy. I was able to get the jump on Ashton (Winger) at the start, and then it was just about staying out front and working lapped traffic the right way. I was patient in lapped traffic, maybe a little too patient, but it all worked out.”
