Ches Chester reached victory lane at the 11th annual Modoc 100.
What won the race: Second-starting Ches Chester of Twin City, Ga., led all but five laps of Saturday’s 11th annual Modoc 100, topping seventh-starting Cody Overton and third-starting Dillon Brown to earn $5,000 in the 50-lap season opener for Crate Late Models at Modoc Raceway.
Key notes: Polesitter Ben Faircloth led the first five laps but went up in a cloud of smoke in turn three. ... Cody Overton banged past Dillon Brown in turn two on the final lap to grab the second spot. ... Michael Brown pulled up lame on lap 21 while running third. ... Super Late Model regular Brandon Overton, the runner-up's brother, retired in 14th after completing 31 laps. ...
