Cory Hedgecock earned $2,500 for winning I-75's Spring-Loaded 40.
What won the race: Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., outran Jesse Lowe in Saturday's Spring-Loaded 40 at I-75 Raceway to capture his second United Championship Racing Association victory of the season. Winning by more than two seconds, Hedgecock earned $2,500 for his third straight Spring-Loaded 40 victory.
Quotable: “It was starting to feel like we were never going to get that monkey off our back," said Hedgecock, who notched his first victory since February. "Honestly, even though it ended well, we started the night with struggles on Saturday night with a flat tire in qualifying. This team didn’t give up though, and we bounced back to get the win. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.”
Key notes: Hedgecock's victory came after he experienced a disappointing run in the previous night's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. … John Ownbey, a former UCRA winner at I-75, retired on lap 34. … The winner of the UCRA season opener at Fort Payne Motor Speedway, Seth Wimpey, was eliminated from contention on lap 39. … Thirteen competitors completed 40 laps. … I-75 Raceway hosted the UCRA circuit for the first time this season; the series returns Aug. 3.
Winner's sponsors: Hedgecock’s Rocket Chassis is powered by an Eagle Racing Engine and sponsored by Cushman, Five Star Hyundai, Eagle Racing Engines, K&P Used Cars, Transport One, Budget Transmissions, Valley Transport, VP Racing Fuels, VooDoo Technology and Timeless Memories Photography.
Points chase: Entering Saturday night's action, Seth Wimpey of Blue Ridge, Ga., led Kasey Hall by two points.
