Matthew Nance earned $1,200 for his second Blue Ridge Series win of the season.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Matthew Nance of Ronda, N.C., topped Ricky Weeks to win Saturday’s Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models feature at Friendship Motor Speedway, earning $1,200 for his second series win of the season. Tommy Jones finished third in rugged conditions.
Quotable: “We drew that four and we didn’t know if we was gonna be too good there,” Nance said. “It was so rough, the racetrack was, and it was kinda one lane. (I) didn’t know if we could pass of if the car would even last all 25 laps. I don’t know what lap we actually took the lead on, but I ran it pretty hard until we got the lead and was able to back it down and tried to save our stuff the best we could.”
Key notes: Nance’s previous series victory came March 23 at Lancaster (S.C.) Speedway. … Polesitter Brandon White finished 17th. … Runner-up Ricky Weeks registered his fourth podium finish in as many starts. He has one victory and three second-place finishes. … The Blue Ridge Outlaws made the first of five scheduled visits to Friendship this season. … The tour returns on July 13.
