What won the race: Going from third to first following a restart on lap 11, 13th-starting Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., rolled around the high side to grab the lead on lap 16 and led the rest of the way to win Thursday’s Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association main event at Stuart Speedway. Chris Simpson finished second, while early leader Tyler Bruening finished third.
Quotable: "I was really glad that they stayed down in (turns) three and four just enough for me to get around,” said Pierce. “It was a pretty tricky track with the different corners. There are not a whole lot of places that get like that, but when they do I like it because I'm always trying to watch the race track and adjust to what it's doing."
