Michael Brown picked up a pair of $1,500 victories Friday at Friendship.
What won the race: Holding off Carson Ferguson not once, but three times, following late-race restarts, polesitter Michael Brown of Pageland, S.C., picked up his first Fastrak Racing Series feature win Friday at Friendship Motor Speedway. Ferguson, who started alongside Brown on the front row, finished second.
Key notes: A series of cautions, the final one for a tangle between Raymond Brown and Andrew Durham, set up three straight attempts to end the race with one lap remaining. … After Ferguson worked to reel in Brown late in the distance, Brown was headed comfortably toward the checkered flag when the caution came out with one lap remaining. Brown endured there restart attempts to win the race. … Friday’s Bill Hicks Memorial, which is part of the annual Fastrak Triple Crown weekend, was split into two separate 20-lap, point-paying features, paying $1,500 to win each. ... After winning the opener, Brown returned later in the evening to complete the sweep with a convincing win over Dillon Brown. ... Both Walker Arthur and Benji Hicks where caught up in a wreck in the first feature and scratched from the second feature. ... The race honors the late Bill Hicks, who passed away after suffering a heart attack at 311 Motor Speedway in Pine Hall, N.C., 27 years ago. … Saturday’s twin features at Beckley (W.Va.) Motorsports Park were cancelled with no makeup date. … Matthew Nance of Ronda, N.C., won the Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model Series feature, which shared the card with the Fastrak tour.
