What won the race: Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., led from flag-to-flag in Saturday night’s 40-lap Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series weekend opener at Dixie Speedway to pocket the $4,000 prize. Capturing his second series win, Page took the checkers 1.659 seconds ahead of Dale McDowell.
Quotable: “I’m proud of the car. We’ve been trying to get better and better in different situations and everything I do we get better and better, so I just hope I can keep it going,” said Page. “That’s probably one of the best (cars) I’ve had here. I felt like I could do anything, just try not to use up my tires and have something there at the end.”
Key notes: Page, whose previous Spring Nationals victory came on March 24, 2017, at Senoia (Ga.) Raceway, became the tour's sixth different winner in nine events this season. ... Five caution flags slowed the feature: Justin Shipley and Tanner English spun in separate lap-two incidents; Brandon Overton slowed in turn three on lap nine; Jamie Oliver fell off the pace on lap 20; and Scott Groves stopped in turn two on lap 23 after slamming the turn-one wall. ... Dixie's Spring Nationals event kicked off a three-race holiday weekend that will wrap up the tour's 2019 season. ... The series heads to Rome Speedway on Sunday before concluding the weekend with the $10,052-to-win Scott Sexton Memorial at 411 Motor Speedway on Monday. … Jason Deal won the Crate Late Model feature.
On the move: Johnny Chastain of Murphy, N.C., started 14th and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Page’s Stinger Race Car is powered by an Andy Durham Racing Engine and sponsored by Baird Transport, Elite Concrete, Baird Towing and T&T Trucking.
