What won the race: Leading the feature flag-to-flag, pole-starting Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., swept the opener of the 11th-hour Super Late Model weekend added at West Plains, earning $2,000 after setting fast time, winning his heat and capturing the 25-lap main event.
Quotable: "This ain't no GRT, but tonight this win is for Joe-Boy,” said winner Terry Phillips, referring to the GRT co-founder who passed away May 1.
Key notes: Billy Moyer followed Phillips for most of the distance, but lost the runner-up spot to Scott Crigler with just a few laps remaining. ... Super Late Models were added to the West Plains weekend upon the cancellation of the Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. ... The Show-Me originated at West Plains and was traditionally held Memorial Day weekend. ... With the Show-Me postponement, Lucas Oil Series regulars Devin Moran and Billy Moyer Jr. were in the field. Moran, who finished eighth, made his first career start at the track; Moyer Jr. placed 16th. ... A $3,000-to-win Super Late Model event is scheduled for Saturday, when the Malvern Bank Cash Money Super Dirt Series (Limited Late Models) is also in action.
