What won the race: Winning his unprecedented third straight series event, fourth-starting Jeremy Wondering of Wellsville, N.Y., slipped by Jason Genco for the lead on the second lap and led the final 28 circuits to capture Saturday's rain-hampered 30-lap Sweeney Cars RUSH Dirt Late Model Series feature at Genesee Speedway. He earned $2,000.
Quotable: "If you got too close to the wall on the outside it'd do strange things with the race car," said the 39-year-old Wonderling. "It was what it was with the rain, but the track turned out pretty good there during the feature. It started to widen out and had some slick spots. It got interesting with lapped traffic, but everything worked out."
Key notes: After sitting through a 2-and-a-half-hour-long rain delay that began when showers hit as the RUSH feature was in the staging area around 8 p.m., Wonderling secured his second win of the weekend; he won Friday at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y. ... Wonderling survived two late scares in lapped traffic and a final-lap restart to record his seventh career victory on the RUSH tour. ... After sweeping both tour events held at the New York oval last season, Genco settled for a second-place finish, holding off Braeden Dillinger. ... Dillinger's third-place finish was a career-best tour finish for the first-time RUSH series follower. ... Fourteen drivers completed 30 laps. ... Third-starting David Pangrazio was an early retiree, dropping out on the third lap.
On the move: Dave DuBois of Corfu, N.Y., started 22nd and finished seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Wonderling's GRT Race Car is sponsored by Close Racing Supply, Terry Prince Contracting and Mesler Trucking.
