Rick Eckert heads to a $3,000 victory at Williams Grove.
What won the race: Polesitter Rick Eckert of York, Pa., dominated the 30-lap KRS Graphics Tri-Track Challenge event at Williams Grove Speedway, leading from flag-to-flag en route to crossing the finish line 5.396 seconds ahead of runner-up Dan Stone. The 53-year-old veteran earned $3,000.
Quotable: "(A night's sweep) don't happen very often for me; I usually draw terrible," said Eckert, who swept time trials, prelims, drew the pole and won the feature. "All the stars lined up for us tonight, that's pretty cool. I love winning when my grandkids are here. I try extra those nights, too."
Key notes: The victory was Eckert's second in as many starts this season at Williams Grove and fourth overall win of 2019 after deciding to run regionally with his rekindled self-owned racing effort. ... Four caution flags slowed the feature, but Eckert controlled each restart and steadily pulled away. ... Stone and Coleby Frye swapped second place several times before finishing behind Eckert in that order. ... Veteran Jim Bernheisel finished fifth, his best outing in three starts this season. ... The KRS Graphics Tri-Track Challenge's two-race weekend includes a Saturday stop at Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway for another $3,000-to-win show.
On the move: Andy Haus of Hamburg, Pa., started 16th and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Eckert’s Rocket Chassis is powered a Jay Dickens Racing Engine and sponsored by S.L. Shenberger Dump Truck Service, Suburban Bowlerama, Drydene Performance Products, P.P.C. Lubricants, Firehouse Subs, M&M Painting & Construction, Eckert Trucking and All About Wraps.
