Jeremy Hines celebrates in Brownstown's victory lane.
What won the race: Rallying from outside the seventh row, track points leader Jeremy Hines of Seymour, Ind., took the lead with a high-side pass of Brad Neat of Dunnville, Ky., on the 20th of 25 laps and led the rest of the second annual Paul Crockett Memorial. He pocketed $2,500 for the victory and solidified his run at a track title worth $10,000 in cash in contingencies. Polesitter Mark Barber, who led the first 11 laps before Neat took the lead, finished second with Neat in third.
Key notes: Outside front-row starter Tanner English retired running second during a lap-nine caution period. ... The race was slowed by six yellow flags. ... A lap-five caution appeared for Tim Prince and Dan Schlieper in turn one. ... A lap-nine yellow appeared for Shannon Reed's turn-one spin. ... Schlieper drew another yellow going off turn three on the lap-nine restart. ... A caution flew on lap 23 when fifth-running Tim Tungate lost an engine; two more yellows flew on ensuing restarts for Steve Godsey, and then a called-back restart. ... In preliminary action, Chris Streeval went for a scary flipping accident over the turn-one banking on the first lap of the third heat; he climbed out apparently OK. ... Mother Nature hustled along the program. ... The race was the second of two races at the 75th annual Jackson County Fair. ... Cody Mahoney of Madison, Ind., won Thursday's Crate Late Model feature over Steve Barnett and Steve Godsey. ... The event honored Crockett, the three-time track Late Model champion who died at age 79 in May 2013.
