Max Blair gets rolling before his ULMS victory at Dog Hollow.
What won the race: Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., took the lead from Shawn Claar on lap 15 and led the rest of the distance to win Saturday’s 30-lap ULMS -sanctioned Shawn “Sheetz” McGarvey Memorial at Dog Hollow Speedway. Blair topped Mike Pegher Jr. and earned $3,000 in winning his second-straight McGarvey Memorial. Claar slipped to fourth after leading the first 14 laps.
Key notes: The win marked Blair’s 21st career ULMS victory. … After starting third, Pegher worked his way into second on lap 20. … Pegher closed the gap when Blair got trapped behind three lapped cars near the end of the 30-lapper. … Blair is the tour’s first repeat winner this season in seven events. He also won at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, W.Va.; he’s also the first repeat winner in six ULMS races at Dog Hollow since 2012. … The race honored the late McGarvey, who was killed in a work-related accident in April of 2009. The McGarvey Memorial was previously held at the old Central Pennsylvania Speedway about 55 miles north in Clearfield.
