Jamie Lathroum (45) races side-by-side with Rick Eckert (0) for the lead with the white flag flying at Georgetown Speedway.
What won the race: Surviving a tense, paint-swapping final circuit with Rick Eckert, Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, Md., emerged victorious in Friday night's 30-lap Super Late Model Clash for Cash at Georgetown Speedway. The driver of Sommey Lacey's machine was neck-and-neck with Eckert at the white flag before drawing away to beat the York, Pa., driver to the finish line for the $3,500 top prize.
Quotable: “I don’t know if (Eckert) thinks I crowded him, but he didn’t seem too happy with me after the race,” Lathroum said.
Key notes: Lathroum captured his second feature of 2019; his previous checkered flag came on May 26 at Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, Md. ... Eckert, who cut down a left-rear tire in the late contact, was in action after making repairs to his car's front end following a hard crash one week ago in a Firecracker 100 preliminary feature at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. ... Jason Covert, who on April 18 won the only previous Super Late Model feature contested this season at Georgetown, finished third. ... The Clash for Cash is a mini-series with events at Georgetown, Potomac and Winchester (Va.) Speedway. The next race is Saturday night at Winchester. ... Matt Hill scored a $1,000 victory over Amanda Whaley in the companion 20-lap RUSH Crate Late Model feature.
Winner's sponsors: Lathroum's Sommey Lacey Racing Rocket was powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by SLR Heavy Equipment Painting, Three Mule Welding Supplies, Lathroum Masonry, Pen Ave. Construction, Claar Logging and Great Mills Trading Post.
