Cade Dillard (97) moves by A.J. Diemel (58) to take command.
What won the race: Third-starting Cade Dillard of Robeline, La., captured Sunday's DiscountShopTowels.com Dirt Kings Tour event at Eagle Valley Speedway. The driver moonlighting from the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series circuit took the lead from MB Customs compatriot A.J. Diemel on the seventh lap and kept runner-up Chad Mahder in check late in the 30-lapper to earn $3,000.
Quotable: "A.J. took off there good and I kind of felt a patch of rubber (in the low groove) and I knew I had to get by him before he found it. Luckily I just found it before he did or we probably would've run second," Dillard said. "I had a really good car. It's been a long year, so to pick up another win feels really good."
Key notes: Dillard scored his third Late Model victory of the season and first since April 26. ... He's ninth in WoO points. ... He threaded lapped traffic at haflway to pull away from A.J. Diemel. ... Runner-up Chad Mahder took the second spot from Diemel with a frontstretch pass just past halfway. ... Besides Dillard, another World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series regular, Brent Larson, was also in action, winning a heat along with Dillard.
On the move: Last year's Dirt Kings winner at Eagle Valley Jake Redetzke of Eau Claire, Wis., started ninth and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Dillard’s MB Customs Race Car is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by S&S Fishing & Rental, Production Jars, Joel’s Auto Sales, Nichols Stores, KRD Pumping Services, Bryan Cook Trucks, Abilene Race Rads, Awalt Hot Oil Services, Jody’s Oil Field Service and Kuda Kutrite.
Points chase: Entering the event, Nick Anvelink (182 points) of Navarino, Wis., led Brett Swedberg (180), Troy Springborn (156), Justin Ritchie (156) and Justin Reed (148).
Current weather: Mostly Sunny, 77°F
