Dustin Linville tells Michael Despain about his Ponderosa victory.
What won the race: Taking the lead with six laps remaining, fourth-starting Dustin Linville of Bryantsville, Ky., took the checkers ahead of Victor Lee of Danville, Ky., for a $3,000 victory in Ponderosa Speedway's 14th annual Hugh "Junebug" Rowland Memorial and his third win of the 2014 season. Justin Rattliff, Tim Tungate and Brad Neat rounded out the top five.
Key notes: Skylar Marlar led most of the way, but Linville caught him with five laps remaining. Marlar ended up tangling with a slower car on the 33rd lap, ending his race. ... Front-row starter Michael Chilton led two laps before engine woes forced him out, handing the lead to Marlar. ... P.J. Feistritzer of Danville, Ky., won the Crate Late Model feature. ... Ponderosa takes a three-week break before welcoming the Ultimate Super Late Model Series for the 11th annual John Bradshaw Memorial on Aug. 22.
On the move: Tripp Gerrald of Lexington, Ky., climbed forward from 14th to finish sixth.
