Brian Shirley's 26th series victory puts him fifth on the all-time list.
What won the race: Capping his DIRTcar Summer Nationals championship season with one final victory, Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., led all 24 laps of the completion of June 30's rained out event at Lincoln Speedway. Shirley, the leader when rain hit after 16 laps last month, earned $5,000 for his seventh series victory of 2019 and 26th of his career.
Key notes: Shirley's 26th series victory breaks a tie with Bobby Pierce and puts Shirley fifth in all-time series victories. ... Kyle Bronson had a turn-four rollover accident just after the race restarted; he was OK. ... Dennis Erb Jr. was part of two early cautions and retired. ... Seven cars finished on the lead lap. ... Thirteen drivers returned to complete the non-points event (all races after the originally schedule Oakshade Raceway finale are non-points races). ... Shirley led the field back to green followed by Brandon Sheppard, Billy Moyer, Shannon Babb, Dennis Erb Jr., Kyle Bronson, Frank Heckenast Jr., Bobby Pierce, Paul Stubber, Bob Gardner, Cody Maguire, Chuck Hummer and Jimmy Miller. ... Original feature starters who didn’t return: Tanner English, Brent Larson, Rusty Schlenk, Rusty Griffaw, Jeff Roth, Mark Burgtorf, Jason Feger, Mike Glasscock and Rickey Frankel.
On the move: Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., started 14th and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Shirley’s Bob Cullen Racing Rocket Chassis is powered by an Andy Durham Racing Engine and sponsored by Thomason Express, Cheap Cars, KBX Graphix, Kid’s Castle Learning Center, Skateland South, Jayco Construction, Kim's Autobody, Vallejo and Popejoy.
