Logan Martin takes the checkers at Batesville Motor Speedway.
What won the race: Third-starting Logan Martin of West Plains, Mo., overtook polesitter Timothy Culp just before halfway and survived a last-lap charge from Culp, to win the $2,500 Comp Cams Super Dirt Series main event Friday at Batesville Motor Speedway. Runner-up Jesse Stovall finished 1.942 seconds back, while Culp slipped to fifth.
Key notes: Logan Martin followed early leader Timothy Culp for 13 circuits before taking command just before the race's third and final caution. ... Martin set a blistering pace from there and enjoyed a large lead, only to see Culp charge back to his rear spoiler (Culp’s fastest lap of the race came on lap 28) in the closing laps. ... Culp made a last-ditch effort for the lead on the final circuit, but Martin held on. ... Culp slipped to fifth. ... The race was red-flagged in the early going when a tangle involving Kyle Beard, Billy Moyer Jr., Wendell Wallace, Colton Horner, Morgan Bagley, Chris Jones, Chandler Petty and Hunter Rasdon blocked the track. The cars involved made minor fixes and continued on. … Batesville hosts the 25th Topless 100 Aug. 15-17, a Lucas Oil Series race co-sanctioned by the CCSDS.
On the move: Mason Oberkramer of Broseley, Mo., started 14th and finished eighth.
