What won the race: Taking advantage after leader Dustin Strand got caught up with a lapped car, seventh-starting Donny Schatz of Fargo, N.D., took over after the lap-12 caution and led the rest of the 25-lapper at Nodak Speedway. The sprint car standout earned $1,500 for an event that also wrapped up the Can Am Western miniseries for WISSOTA Late Models.
Key notes: Mike Balcaen led the first three laps before Dustin Strand went out front. ... Strand was in command nearing halfway with Balcaen and Schatz in pursuit when he tangled with a lapped car while trying to slide by, forcing him to restart on the tail. ... Schatz outdueled Balcaen on the restart and led the rest of the way. ... Schatz has nine career NLRA victories; his previous victory came Aug. 17, 2018, at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. ... Balcaen finished 2.239 seconds behind Schatz at the checkers. ...
