What won the race: Third-starting Dusty Leonard of Marysville, Kan., won his fifth NCRA race of the season Saturday at Thunder Hill, topping polesitter Delbert Smith for a $1,000 triumph.
Key notes: Leonard’s five series wins this season have come at four different tracks: Thunder Hill; Longdale (Okla.) Speedway; Belleville (Kan.) High Banks; and 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan. … Leonard has a series-best nine top-fives in nine features this season. … Chris Kratzer and Delbert Smith each have seven top-fives in 10 starts. … Five drivers (Kratzer, Delbert Smith, Daniel Smith, Travis Johnson and Adam Schrag) have competed in all 10 races. … Eddie Schwope Jr. of St. Joseph, Mo., finished sixth in his heat, but did not start the feature. … Series leader Chris Kratzer slipped two positions to fourth after starting on the front row. … The series returns to Thunder Hill on Oct. 5.
