Diemel on Friday at Red Cedar Speedway for a Wollak Construction WISSOTA Challenge Series victory. Mars, who earned $5,555 for his third straight Duane Mahder 55 victory, won on the same night his 15-year-old son Sam Mars won his first Limited Late Model feature.
Key notes: Leading every lap, Mars is the seventh series winner in seven series races. ... He's won the last three series events at Red Cedar and has eight career series victories overall. ... Runner-up A.J. Diemel took that spot from Lance Matthees after the halfway fuel stop and challenged Mars late. ... Pat Doar ran as high as third but got too high a late restart and ended up seventh. ... The late Duane Mahder’s mother was among family members in the grandstand. It was her 90th birthday and the grandstand united to sing her the Happy Birthday Song. ... Sam Mars outran Kyle Johnson and Lance Hofer in the Limited Late Model feature before his father's victory.
