Max Blair raced to his 24th career ULMS victory.
What won the race: Polesitter Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., captured his series-leading fifth victory Friday at Freedom Motorsports Park, earning $2,500 for his fourth career victory in the USMC Corp. Jason Dunham Memorial. The unchallenged Blair led all 30 laps.
Quotable: “We made a couple of changes there from what we’ve been doing, and I felt like we were rolling pretty good, but (Scott) has been rolling pretty good these last couple of weeks, too,” Blair said. “I knew we really had to be on top of our game there. On that (lap-23) restart, I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t worried about where (Scott) was. He’s been real good. So it was definitely on my mind. I felt like I hit those last few laps pretty good."
Key notes: Blair leads the series with 24 career feature victories. ... Blair and runner-up David Scott have split the last four ULMS events. ... Scott took the second spot from Mike Wonderling Jr. on the sixth lap. ... Dutch Davies slowed in turn four for a lap-23 caution, the race's lone slowdown. ... Cody Egner scratched from the Freedom feature. ... The series is slated to return to Freedom on Sept. 7 for a $3,000-to-win program.
Winner's sponsors: Blair’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Clement’s Racing Engine and is sponsored by Specialty Products, Previty’s Auto Wrecking, Moody & Son Welding, Murphy’s Logging, C&J Dairy, Upstate Auto Group, Sons of the American Legion Post 1460, Niemeyer’s Garage, Plyler Entry Systems and MWB Graphics.
