Dane Dacus heads for a $3,000 victory at Tennessee National.
What won the race: Dane Dacus of Arlington, Tenn., earned $3,000 in an unsanctioned special event at Tennessee National Raceway. Dacus took the checkers ahead of Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, Tenn., while outside front-row starter and early leader Dylan Ames of Harvest, Ala., hit the turn-three wall after surrendering the lead.
Key notes: Two top-five drivers were disqualified. Fast qualifier and polesitter Josh Putnam was part of a late accident that resulted in Daniel Miller's car being perched on the nose of Putnam's machine. Putnam blamed third-place finisher Terry English for the accident and was disqualified to trying to retaliate during the caution period. ... Tanner English was running second late in the feature with a deflating tire. After a dispute with officials about where he'd restart, the race director told him he'd no longer be scored. English was the third driver to take the checkers, but was disqualified. Promoter Bill Hibbits said English was DQ'd for an unsportsmanlike gesture to track officials during the caution; English denied making a gesture. ... Brad Skinner scratched from the feature lineup. ... The race was a rare Super Late Model special at the track that hosts Limited Late Model events regularly. ... Ashley Newman won the night's Limited Late Model feature over Putnam and Miller.
